Quit Resources for Schools

Kick It California has helped Californians quit tobacco and nicotine for over 30 years. KIC provides free, personalized support to young people who want help to quit vaping, smoking, or using smokeless tobacco. Below are resources for schools to promote KIC services in your communities; enroll your school in our YVape program as an alternative to disciplinary action for students caught vaping; and to refer your students who want help to quit.

Kick It California Quit Services

KIC provides quit help through text, chat, phone, and mobile app. Below is more information on our services and promotional flyers you can post in your schools.

YVape: Youth Vaping Alternative Program Education

YVape's Mission is to educate students about vaping, decrease recidivism and suspension rates, build a positive bond between Kick It California and students, and provide resources for students who want to reduce or quit vaping.

▪ Free educational program with phone coaching & videos for students who have been vaping at school.
▪ California public middle and high schools can enroll students in YVape as an alternative disciplinary action for vaping.
▪ YVAPE is designed to provide a positive experience for the student and help them think through their vaping behavior.

For more information on the project, visit YVAPE.ORG

YVape is funded by the Orange County Department of Education: Capacity Building Project and California Department of Education.

YVape Videos cover a variety of topics like how tobacco companies target youth; how vaping nicotine and marijuana can affect the body; and how to deal with stress.

Student E-Referral

Refer students (13+ yrs old) who want help to quit vaping, smoking, or using smokeless and KIC will do the rest.

KIC Quit Coach Calls the Student

A Quit Coach will call the student to determine what the student needs help with and then will work with the student to create a personalized quit plan. Coaching is available in English, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, and Vietnamese.

First Coaching Call

On the first call, the Quit Coach & student will talk about the student's motivation to quit, what triggers them to vape or use other products, and will outline some strategies the student can use instead of vaping.

Follow-Up Calls

A Quit Coach will check in with the student after their quit date to provide encouragement and support. We'll check in with them 7 months after their quit date to see how they're doing and if they're vape-free.

I tried to quit once before, but I was being mean to everyone. This time I asked for help, rather than me doing it alone. They gave me lots of support.”
